Wordless Wednesday

I've been trying to convince my boss to let me bring Cooper to work for like a year. I think I just found the solution! She can't say no to me now!

If you're interested, visit your local Walgreens, they also have the Shake Weight, as talked about here.

Dear Easter Bunny

Dear Easter Bunny,

If you're listening, please hop on over to Best Buy to fill up my easter basket with one of these:

I've decided that since my camera charger is lost and nowhere to be found, I'm going to use that as a valid excuse to get a new one. Not to mention my current dead camera sucks. The pictures are no good as evidenced in this blog and the features on it are far and few between. It's been a good camera for the past 4 years, but it's time to move up. I've always admired Canon's and think this would be just perfect for me.

Oh and Easter Bunny, I haven't broken my lenten sacrifice of cheetos alllllll lent long! :)

Sincerely,

Cooper's Big Escape!

Friday night we were sitting around trying to decide where to go for dinner. The whole no meat on Fridays is really throwing these plans for a loop. We finally decided on McNellie's - love me some irish food! We shared an appetizer and I got a cup of french onion soup for those who are interested.

Well so we're getting ready to go and want the dogs to come back inside. (They love it out there lately!)
Nigel comes in no problems there and Cooper's taking his sweet time, which is usually Nigel's M.O. So Dave got peeved and went out to look for the little guy, when low and behold he's in the neighbors yard!

Little Cooper had managed to squeeze through a hole that's no bigger than my fist to get into their yard. I assume he was chasing a cat, and since it's his lifelong dream to capture a cat, I couldn't be too mad. Then, Dave informed me that neighbor has a HUGE dog. I'm talking one of those dogs that looks like a wolf! One that you normally only see in Colorado sitting in the passenger seat of a granola looking guy's jeep. Lucky for us, wolf/dog's owner had not let him out in the time Cooper had crawled under their fence.

So we got the treats and tried to entice Coop to come back through his little hole, but he was playing like he couldn't fit anymore. Dave had to get the shovel to dig him a bigger passage way.

He finally managed to squeeze through! Sorry for all the blurry pics, these were action shots with the iphone, camera charger is officially lost.

Hooray! I'm back home now Mom!

Dave was Not happy when I took this, he worries about the little guy. So sweet.

This is when Dave was having a serious talk with Cooper about the dangers of escaping into wolfdog's yard.

All Coop's thinking is "but I came home! Can I have some cheese now?"

Boring Drives

Last week the drive home from work was awful everyday. There was stop and go traffic for at least 20 minutes to get out of norman every single day. On Friday I carpooled to work with this guy:

So that I could ride home with this guy:

I tend to either get really bored and zone out in the car or really hyper and hilarious/annoying. It's debatable whether I was being hilarious or annoying on this Friday evening drive.

So you know what I mean by boring... I took this picture so you could see how boring... this is me searching for gray hairs. Which has become a daily obsession, so far I've found 4.

This is embarrasing. I should probably not post this. Oh well, too late. This past Friday I was hyper. I discovered that I could do a really good parrot voice. I proceeded to talk in this parrot voice the remainder of the drive. It went something like this:

Me: Aarrgh I'm a Parrot
Dave: what?
Me: Aarrgh I've got a good parrot voice!
Dave: (clearly annoyed with the traffic not me) ok great babe.
Me: Aarrgh Roy-G-Biv
Dave: (just shoots me a look like Really?)
Me: Aarrgh Polly wanna cracker! Wait do parrots say that? I think that's just pet birds.
Dave: it's parrots
Me: Aaarrrgh you sure?
Dave: how long is this going to go on?
Me: Aaarrgh you sick of it?
Dave: laughs finally because I quoted this commercial we've both thought was hilarious for the past few weeks. I'm sure you've all seen it but in case you haven't here it is:

You'll find yourself quoting "We're sick of it" in a lot of situations now trust me!

And if you all have any better ideas for how I could pass the time while riding in the car I'm open to suggestions.

You Know You Love Me...

In case you're looking for something to get me for my birthday in 2 weeks here are some ideas! :)

For your 411 my birthday is 4/11 :) So you don't forget!

It's the Little Things

With our first mortgage payment under our belt and the first set of bills including several security deposits and start up fees, we are a little strapped for cash.  We've been living very frugally lately, bringing lunch to work every day, eating at home every night, turning down requests for happy hour and avoiding the mall at all costs. In 2 weeks we'll be back on our feet again but in the meantime I've been thinking about all the little non-material things that have the ability to make me so happy and excited!

A few things that make me smile:

Cuddling with Cooper

Cooking dinner with Dave while listening to good music

A homemade margarita (mine are better than most restaurants)

Sitting in the living room with the windows open because it's so nice out

Doing laundry at our new house

This is the first picture we took in the new house, also the first thing we did, laundry!
When you go from not having a laundry machine for 2 years, to having the top of the line washer and dryer you get excited!

A big bowl of guacamole

A phone call from my family

Receiving anything in the mail that's not a bill

Blog comments

Home project plans

Game night with Ryan and Lindy

Talking about weddings

Playing tennis with the hubbs

Having ridiculous g-chats with Marissa all day

A self- pedicure

A phone catch up with a good friend

And because I'm being sentimental, here's one from our engagement session that took place about a year ago.

What are the things that make you all smile?

Paint Job

A couple of weekends ago we painted the dining room, you might remember if you read this post. I was lucky enough to find my camera cord last night so you all are lucky enough to see the finished results!

We learned a few things from painting this room, Ace Hardware does not sell Frog Tape :( and Benjamin Moore paint is a lot more than Valspar or Olympic. I'm talking double the price for a gallon. So that was a little shock, then when we started painting we noticed the paint didn't seem to be drying the same color all around. The first wall looked good, then it was gradually getting more red, great. We ended up having to go over all of the walls again because the spots we had touched up at the end were drastically different. Yikes. But we made it work and we really love how the room looks now! It's very warm and looks great with the wood trim. I hope you like it as much as we do!

Before:

After: Ta Da!

We've hung pictures up on the walls since I took these... I need to find that charger asap and post pics again. And we did a little diy on the candleabra - will post later.

Springtime Decor AKA Everything I want right now :)

Spring is by far my favorite season of the year.  I love the days where you can leave the doors open and it's the same temperature inside as it is outside. The sun is shining bright, the days are longer, the sky is clear and I'm itching to be outside all the time. I don't even mind the little bugs that start showing up, that's how happy springtime makes me! It could possibly have something to do with my birthday being in April. Which by the way I'm voting for April being the best birth month, it's far enough from Christmas and it's not in the dead of summer when your birthday parties are weird b/c half your friends are on vacation. It's perfect the perfect time to ask for a new swimsuit or sundress that will make your summer wardrobe fresh and fun!  I'm sure you can argue for your own birth month as much as I am here. But to me, spring means birthdays, grilling out, preparing for vacations and weddings, and spending evenings on the deck by the chiminea.

Here are my favorite decor items for spring this year, I hope you like them as much as me!

Now get outside and enjoy the sunshine with a margarita in hand!

Wordless Wednesday

Dave sent my this this morning - the subject was "Cute Little Owl".
So true.

Snowy First Day of Spring!

Saturday marked the first day of spring.  Saturday also brought a snow storm to Oklahoma! So while it looked like this outside, we vegged out and took care of some household chores.

image taken in Tulsa, found here.

Cooper and Nigel stared out the window hoping it would stop so they could bark at cats in the backyard...

Then Cooper got tired...

Sunday we were determined to do the taxes. I told Dave if he started them I'd make this delicous snack and it worked!

Yes, those are jalapeno's stuffed with chicken and cheese, wrapped in bacon! How could he say no?
I got the recipe from the Pioneer Woman, if you haven't heard of her you're missing out! Check out all of her recipes here. I love how she has step by step directions with pictures, I'm a cooking amateur and these are incredibly helpful! The jalapeno recipe called for only 3 ingredients in case you're wondering. I added chicken b/c I was making chicken salad (inspired by emily) at the same time and thought why not? Her cookbook is #1 on my birthday wish list.

I'm happy to say we finished the taxes! Probably due to the jalapeno incentive... Then we can start the countdown to the refund! Yay! So far a new TV for the living room is at the top of the list. And I'm pushing for a new TV for the bedroom so the tube tv can get out of the way of my dresser! Again - sorry for all the iphone pics the camera cord hunt was unsuccessful again...
