Bullet Point Kinda Day

I've had a cold for a week... bullet points are as good as it gets right now.
  • I got the Tory Burch Holiday gift guide in the mail and had to have this iphone case for myself.. I've been wanting a more fun case and this one was a must have! No, I couldn't wait until Christmas, I didn't want it to sell out!

  • I made these super cute onesies for a baby shower we went to last weekend! Thanks to Toni for giving me the confidence to know I could do it! It was SO easy! You might remember I saw something similar at Mistletoe Market being sold for $30! Mine cost about $6 to make! Score!

  •  I attended a baby shower at work - thrown by men. Check out the banner they came up with for the decor!
  •  My old pal Marissa was in town a couple weekends ago and she had to have some famous Eischen's Fried Chicken! Dave ate an entire chicken. Don't get me started.

  • Dave won a Kinect at DentFest and it's provided hours of fun! So far our favorite game is the Adventures game it came with and Dance Central 2! Any other good ones we should ask Santa for?

  • I made the dogs homemade dog food from this recipe that was super easy btw - I'm waiting on my Mom of the Year trophy to come in the mail...

  • I saw this amazing kids gift in Real Simple magazine - but then I was at CVS the other day (getting cold medicine again yay!) and saw that they sell them in the store for only $20! If I was a kid I would have gone nuts for this present! It's called the Discovery Kids Color Me Castle, and I found them online at JCPenney.

  •  I'm super excited for Thanksgiving! I made Pioneer Woman's artichoke dip for Dave's family Thanksgiving last night and I'll be making Pioneer Woman's Mac and Cheese as my contribution to my family's Thanksgiving this year! Yummm!

DIY Christmas Decor

Dave is busy studying for finals, 9 tests in the next 9 days.. I don't envy him. So I've been entertaining myself in the evenings. Last night I decided to re-create a little Christmas decor I had seen a sorority sister do years ago.
I gathered my supplies and got to work! It took me about an hour from start to finish. Easy breezy!
Here's what you'll need: A canvas (I used an 18x24), pencil, some round items you can trace for the circles (cd's and bowls worked for me!), red, green, gold and black paint,  a couple of good paintbrushes, some Christmas ribbon and a glue gun.

It's pretty simple so I'll let the pictures speak for themselves:
I traced the circles lightly in pencil and planned out which ones would be which colors, then I started painting!
I used the gold paint to highlight the red and green ornaments and both red and green to highlight the gold ornament. Then I painted on the Bible verse, "Every good and perfect gift is from above" - James 1:17
(not a huge fan of my handwriting with a paintbrush but what can ya do?)
Then I made the bows, glued them together and set them aside. I had planned on using the thick plaid ribbon to "hang" all the ornaments but I realized I'd be covering up a lot of them so I improvised with some thinner red and gold ribbon I had on hand. I must say, I really like the different ribbons.
Now I just have to decide where to put it or who to give it to!??

I linked up at Centsational Girl who is having a Holiday Craft Link party!

DIY Love!

I LOVE crafts! Love Love Love them! Ever since I was a little girl I loved doing art projects and creating pretty things. I used to spend hours working on my scrapbooks in elementary school. In middle school I moved on to cool collages mixed with photos and words I snipped from Seventeen magazine. "Hot Stuff!" and "Girlfriends!" were some of the regulars. High school I was into making hemp necklaces and bracelets. I took AP Art in high school where i mostly drew nature in abstract colors. I wasn't the greatest artist but I loved it! One of my best friends, AnneMarie and I were in AP art together and we'd stay in class through lunch hour working on our side projects that we were making for friends.

When I got to college I moved on to decorating my dorm room. I painted the edge around one of those cheap $5 fill length mirrors. I remember thinking my pink and purple leopard painted mirror was the perfect addition to any dorm room. Which explains why I was later devastated to fine out Dave and his roommates had accidentally broken the mirror while I was storing it under their bunk beds in the Beta house. (What was I thinking in the first place storing anything at a fraternity house?) My crafting later led me to spend hours and weeks making shot books for friends' 21st birthday celebrations. I recently flipped through the one my girlfriends made for me and was quite impressed with the creativity and time put into a one time used book for drinking! I also flipped through the one I made for Dave - which was quite entertaining since the pictures are from 3-4 years ago! We used to have so much free time! It seems like my most favorite pictures were of the nights we just hung out drinking cheap beers on thrift store purchased couches playing endless games of asshole. (If you've never played - it's Really fun! Find the rules here: assholerules.com)

Last year when I was in between having a job and graduating from school I made these photo accordions that are super cute! I even got Antique Garden on campus corner to buy some from me to sell in their store! Antique Garden is one of my absolute favorite stores, one which I will definitely miss if we ever move out of Norman!

Lately, I've been working on a few DIY projects for the wedding. I found an amazing wedding blog called StyleMePretty with an entire section dedicated to DIY projects. After scouring through every post they had I decided on the matchboxes and sparkler holders to fuel my crafting needs. I think they've turned out perfect! I almost don't want to give them away!
What do you think?
