Cute Way To Display Vacation Photos

Before Dave's birthday party I wanted to update some of our frames and I realized we had no pictures up from our recent vacations. Since we've been lucky to travel quite a few places in the past couple years, I quickly ran out of frames to put them in, so I came up with a new idea!

I had seen this frame at Pier1 a while back and it was perfect for my idea!

So I picked it up and then I edited a few of the best vacation photos in Picnik to make them look like Polaroids. Then I added text to the bottom of the Polaroid saying when and where the photo was taken.

I loooove the way it turned out!
Here are a few close ups for you stalkers :)

I hung this in our kitchen above the trashcan, so pretty much everyone saw it and I got tons of compliments and how'd you do that?'s ! The possibilities are really endless with this little project, how cute would ultrasound pics look?! or monthly baby pics! So much fun and easy to swap them out whenever you want! If you have any questions, let me know!

Paint Job

A couple of weekends ago we painted the dining room, you might remember if you read this post. I was lucky enough to find my camera cord last night so you all are lucky enough to see the finished results!

We learned a few things from painting this room, Ace Hardware does not sell Frog Tape :( and Benjamin Moore paint is a lot more than Valspar or Olympic. I'm talking double the price for a gallon. So that was a little shock, then when we started painting we noticed the paint didn't seem to be drying the same color all around. The first wall looked good, then it was gradually getting more red, great. We ended up having to go over all of the walls again because the spots we had touched up at the end were drastically different. Yikes. But we made it work and we really love how the room looks now! It's very warm and looks great with the wood trim. I hope you like it as much as we do!

After: Ta Da!

We've hung pictures up on the walls since I took these... I need to find that charger asap and post pics again. And we did a little diy on the candleabra - will post later.

Weekend Happenings

This weekend we're planning on exploring Oklahoma City a bit. I've started a list of "Fun Things to do in OKC", and we plan on crossing off 2 items on that list this weekend! (By the way the list only has 3 things on it, send suggestions please!)

Tonight we're going to dine on Western Avenue, probably Sushi Neko because I've been having a serious sushi craving and Neko is the best. Well the best in OKC, In the raw is our absolute fave but the one in okc doesn't really compare to the one in Tulsa. Plus Neko is closer. Win-Win.

After dinner, we're going to check out the Paseo District's First Friday event. The Paseo is only 4 blocks from our new house so hopefully the first friday is fun and we can invite friends over to our house before the next one.

As it's described online, "The First Friday gallery walk is held on the first Friday and Saturday of every month. The walk starts on Friday at 6pm and lasts until 10pm and on Saturday from 12pm to 6pm.
Over 60 artists in more than 17 galleries participate, all within walking distance. Four to six Art Opening Receptions on Friday night showcase the new work of the gallery/studio owners or the work of guest artists."
Sounds fun to me!

Tomorrow we're going to Norman in the morning, I'm going to the Second Chance Animal Shelter to volunteer with the Junior League and Dave will be loading up the last load from our house in Norman. With the weather so nice we'll be happy to finally have the grill!

Saturday afternoon we're going to paint the dining room! I know, I thought we were done with painting also. But, since we've decided to put a hold on the wallpaper (too expensive) we can't stand the sight of the bright blue dining room anymore. I was reading through my House Beautiful the other month and dog-eared a page about beautiful paint colors, they were all orange. I thought Dave would hate them. To my suprise he loved the idea! I'm so glad, I think it will look great with the china hutch and make the dining room more warm and welcoming.

Here's the color: It's Benjamin Moore's Soft Marigold

And here's the room that inspired me to love the color from House Beautiful

This room is just so gorgeous, it looks like you just got home from the beach, the sun is setting, and it's time for a margarita on the rocks on the deck.

Mmm maybe we should get a bottle of this for the glamourous orange dining room?

Or just stick to the usual Mango Margarita Mix:

Sorry, got sidetracked there. Margaritas do that to me.

Ok, where were we? Ah yes, the weekend! Hooray! So after painting I'm determined to get some more stuff unpacked. The rooms full of boxes are haunting me. And another goal for the weekend is to do the taxes. Dave, if you're reading, the sooner the taxes are done, the sooner the return comes, therefore, the sooner we can buy that HD tv you've been drooling over.

On Sunday, we're crossing off the 2nd thing on the "Fun Things to do in OKC" list. We're going to visit The Rink Gallery. It's described online as, "an antique/retro/art/collectibles mall". When I told Dave about it he said, "No way, I used to ice skate there! Is the ice still in it?" Let's hope not. That would be some extreme antique shopping!

Hopefully we have another successful treasure hunting experience there. I'll let you know what we find!

And I'll leave you with some gorgeous orange themed rooms I found while perusing House Beautiful.
