Hunger Games Obsessed

I finished the 3rd and last book in the Hunger Games series last night!
Absolutely LOOOOOVED it! I was sad when it was over b/c I didn't want it to end!
We pre-ordered our tickets to see the movie based on the first book for Sunday afternoon in the balcony at our fancy theater here! I seriously cannot wait! I got giddy when they showed a new preview during The Oscars!

I cannot wait to see how they depict the capitol and the game arena! I read some intial critic reviews and everyone is loving it! So let's hope this one is uber-successful and they make Catching Fire and Mockingjay into movies also!!

So I know it all works out in the end but in the first book you still don't know... so at that point were you all Team Peeta or Team Gale?

I've been Team Peeta from the beginning. I'd totally buy a shirt that said Team Peeta. Is there one out there?

Yes! I found it! How much crap would I take if I wore this?? I think it's cute..

Happy Endings - Penny Love

Happy Endings is one of those shows that makes you laugh so hard you choke on your glass of sav blanc then yell at your husband for laughing too loud b/c you missed the next joke. You really don't want to miss anything. (except maybe some of Elisha Cuthbert's lines... maybe she's just annoying b/c the rest of the characters are on another level of funny) I seriously want to be bff with Penny.

Watch these clips and tell me you don't find her "high-larious" (quote from Penny)

Last weekend in Vegas I got everyone hooked on her "So cue" and "omg so lamb"

I also love Brad and Jane, this scene had me laughing so hard I almost ruined my airbrush tan for Vegas! "Do you think we should switch to paperless billing?!" "I don't think that I'm ready for that, I like having a hard copy for my records!!"

Sausage and Peppers Pasta Recipe

It's been a while since I shared a recipe, this one was a huge hut with the hubbs! He was a little annoyed at the fact that I made him stop at Whole Foods to get the sausage since we'd just left Homeland. I told him it'd be worth it and I hate to say it but I told ya so!!

Whole Foods makes their own sausage fresh, I kindly asked the girl behind the counter to remove it from the casings so I could crumble cook it in a skillet. (b/c who wants to do that in their kitchen, gross)

I found the recipe via Pinterest from the Reluctant Entertainer but made a few changes.

Recipe: Sausage and Peppers Recipe from Aggie’s Kitchen

Ingredients

  • 4 large bell peppers (I like to use a combination of red and green), cut in large strips
  • 1 large sweet onion, cut in large slices
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced (I forgot to add these and didn't notice)
  • good pinch salt and pepper
  • good pinch or two of dried oregano (also left this out on accident)
  • 2 lbs sweet Italian sausage (you could use Italian chicken or turkey sausage as well) (I only used 1.25 lbs and it was plenty)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2-3 cups of your favorite tomato sauce (I used Newman's Own Tomato and Basil sauce)
  • 1 lb rigatoni pasta

Instructions (these are my instructions if you're using sausage still in the casings - follow her recipe linked above)

  1. Preheat oven to 375.
  2. In a large glass baking dish, add peppers, onions, garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper. Toss until all the vegetables are coated in the olive oil.
  3. Bake for about 20-25 minutes until vegetables are soft and sausages are cooked through.
  4. I just cooked the veggies in the oven and cooked the sausage in a skillet while the pasta cooked
  5. Boil the water and cook the pasta according to the package.
  6. When the sausage is cooked, drain it on a paper towel then add the sausage back to the pan with the tomato sauce, add the veggies from the oven, and serve over the pasta once it's been cooked and drained.
  7. I also added a little shredded mozzarella cheese and some red pepper flakes (we like stuff spicy)
  8. Serve alongside french bread and wine!

Yummm!

Sweet Little Boomer

Last week my family lost our beloved little yorkie, Boomer. He was the sweetest little dog who followed my mom everywhere she went. He was too young to die and we're all very devastated. Please keep my Mom in your prayers, she's especially sad without her little shadow.

Rest in peace sweet Boom Boom. We all miss you dearly.
