Friday Faves!

I always love reading people's Friday Faves, so I decided to jump on the bandwagon!
I think there's a little something for everyone. :)

JCrew - Chambray Cinch Shirt - $88
(Plenty of time for this to go on sale before I can actually wear it!)

Recognize this model from The City? Me too! She was the one that was friends with Whitney, and her bf kinda sucked and Kelly Cutrone told her she needed to eat something. I think Kelly was right... cute shirt though!
Forever21 - Alternating Stripes Top - $14.80

Francesca's Collections - Studded Clutch - $54

I'm sick of winter, spring shopping is the only thing that will get me through the rest of it.
And I'm loving this striped number, it looks ultra comfy and oh so summery!
PiperLime - LA Made St Tropez Dress - $86

I have to buy 2 baby gifts this weekend, so I started browsing PB Kids and came across these adorable bookends.
PB Kids - Owl bookends - $29

Of course, these guys would have to come with them:

PB Kids - Penny & Joy Owls - $24-$29
(Is it too early to start buying stuff for my future kids? I'm kind of obsessed with Penny & Joy!)

Gummy Vitamins! Love these things! I only wish the daily dosage was 20 and not 2..

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills - seriously love this show right now! I could hang out with Lisa all day, she's hilarious. I'm also loving the recaps on I'mBringingBloggingBack - Hilarious!

Jeff Bridges Can. Do. No. Wrong. - We saw True Grit last night, it was awesome and the dialogue is laugh out loud funny. Go see this, you won't regret it.
Best line: "That didn't pan out." (You have to have seen it... I realize this is annoying, it's like when people say, "Oh, it's an inside joke" and you're on the outside. Not cool. But in this case you have the option to get on the inside! - just go see the movie ok? Then tell me you agree, I like it when people agree with me.)

I'm looking forward to the 3-day weekend! We don't really have any big plans as of yet, except I plan on dragging Dave to see Country Strong, and I'm sure we'll get into some kind of shenanigans a couple nights, seeing how we're party animals now. Have a great weekend friends!

Cozy Night In & Recent Ramblings

The weather has been too cold to do anything lately. We watched the National Championship game on Monday night and invited a couple over to join us, the girl said it was too cold to go out. I don't blame her, I didn't want to leave the house either.

Tuesday night we were determined to have fun even if we weren't snowed in, we were frozen in it felt like.
So we busted out my new backgammon board (Thanks to Dave for getting me this awesome gift for Christmas!), poured some wine, lit some candles and cozied up to the table to play!

After watching 3 YouTube videos on how to play backgammon we were ready!
I think this was around the time I said, "The hunt is over, the race is on." In my creepiest voice.

I beat him 2 out of 3 games. :)
I did have a lot more prior experience though... my Dad and I used to play all the time when I was younger.
We stayed warm and had fun without the TV. I'd say it was a successful night. :)

I also have to share a recent conversation:

Dave: Ugh I have to go to school until 4 tomorrow!!!!

Me: Oh how rough, I got home at 630, I don't want to hear it. Here I made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, they will make it all better.
Me: You really ate 7 of those cookies, didn't you?

Dave: Yep, but it's ok I'm going to bench it out later.
Me: OoooooK
Dave: How many did you have?
Me: 2. I know my limits.
Dave: Psh whatever. (Lactaid commercial plays on TV)
Dave: Lactaid, it doesn't make me diarrhea on myself!
Me: ::smirks::

Dave: Sorry I'm on a sugar high. Hey Look! I'm holding Cooper in his pooping position
Me: That's nice babe. I'm going to bed.
Dave: Ahh ok I'll stop. Don't leave.

I think Break Dave is sticking around a little longer... and I'm totally ok with that. He's way more entertaining.

Wordless Wednesday

{what got me through Monday afternoon's awful weather}

Bye-Bye Break-Dave

This week I have to say goodbye to On A Break Dave... after 3 long weeks of having him around he will surely be missed.
Break Dave looks like this:

Here are my favorite parts of Break Dave
He's willing to pose for ridiculous pictures whenever I want
He has time to do chores around the house
He comes to bed with me at the same time everynight
He goes to chick flicks with me (and sneaks a couple drinks in his coat pockets for us to share)
He sends me pics of the dogs randomly being cute during the day
He likes to stay up late having fun, not studying

As Dental School starts back up he will slowly morph back into School Dave...
School Dave looks like this:

always studying and checking email. boo!

(this is what you get when you bring School Dave out of the house and try to get Break Dave to come out)

Sometimes School Dave can be just like Break Dave, and those are the times I love the most :)
This semester I vow to bring Break Dave out more often (I know his friends have missed him).
I will try my hardest, The best way to get him out is with a good shoulder rub, some snacks (cheese and crackers or chips and salsa), a glass of scotch and the promise of a good time!

But for now, we can dream about the days when Break Dave comes back and pulls stunts like this:

Maybe getting School Dave back for a while isn't so bad...

Ps - Sorry babe! You know I love ya! :)

2011 Resolutions

I realize it's a few days into 2011 already but my resolutions aren't real until I write them on the blog are they?

{image via}
Here ya go folks:
1. Attend Mass once a month. (totally stealing this idea from Patti b/c it's a really good one!)

{image via}
2. Create our Italy scrapbook (it's been almost 3 years now...)

{image via}
3. Create our wedding scrapbook, I hope to do this before our 2nd wedding anniversary in June.

4. Bring my lunch to work more often, try and only eat out once a week.

{image via}
5. Discover and Explore Oklahoma City by trying something new once a month, whether it be a new restaurant or attending an event. Since this is our home for the next 3 1/2 years we should start exploring now before it's time to move! (If anyone has any good recommendations for places in OKC I'd love to hear them!)

Winner Winter Meal!

We went to a Dental School Party on Friday night. And spent the rest of the weekend relaxing, cleaning up the house, boxing up the Christmas decorations and I watched the entire 1st season of Modern Family! Love that show!
I really wanted to make something this weekend that would last us a few meals during the week. I thumbed through just about every cook book I have with no good options. :( Does anyone know of a good casserole/crockpot meal cook book?
So off to the trusty internets I went... I've tried a few of the Cooking Light recipes and they're all easy and delicious. I love their 5-ingredient recipes, so simple! (Mom, if you're reading - you'd like some of these!)Nothing is more irritating than having to buy 4 new spices just to make one meal.

I found this amazingly easy recipe for Chicken and Dumplings and the weather is just perfect for it now.

Ingredients:1 3 1/2- to 4-pound rotisserie chicken, meat shredded
1 10-ounce package frozen mixed vegetables
1 10.75-ounce can condensed cream-of-mushroom soup
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 10-count tube refrigerated biscuits

Preparation:Heat oven to 400° F.
Combine the chicken, vegetables, soup, salt, pepper, and 3/4 cup water in a large bowl. Transfer the mixture to an oven-safe casserole, cover with foil, and bake for 30 minutes. After 15 minutes, place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through, about 15 minutes. Remove both the casserole and the biscuits from the oven. Uncover the casserole, place the biscuits on top, and serve.
(I substituted milk for the water and I just cooked the biscuits separately and crumbled them up in my bowl)

I made Bisquick's cheesy drop biscuits instead of the Grands route.
This was SO good and SO easy, plus, we have about half of it leftover still! Bonus!

We plan on having the rest of the chicken in these barbecue baked potatos later this week.

My new iphone gives Nigel alien eyes- spoooky!

NYE in CB (part 2)

To continue from Part 1... We all got ready to go out for New Years Eve!

Then we busted out all the NYE party favors!

We had glowsticks, horns, silly string and poppers. We were set!

I only took one picture at dinner... of Taryn and Matt. haha! It's cute of you guys though!
Dinner was deeeeelicious! We ate at Slogar, a family style fried chicken restaurant.
Then we headed out to Talk of The Town (or TacoTown if you've been drinking)

We didn't all make it out... some people were feeling under the weather so there was a separate celebration back at the house.

There was some dancing..

and some glow bracelet ring toss...

and some characters.

Dave and Cross stood guard, not letting the freaks into our area. Look at the girl with the gold armband. Since when did NYE suggest you should dress like you're going to a medieval fair?

Rodine and I both found hats in the bathrooms... this is supposed to be a hardcore face?
Yeah it's not working...

The group that stayed out til Midnight.
The woman who kissed Cross at midnight, then tried to kiss Rodine, only to have him pull away and her flick him in the mouth.
Yeah.. it was time to go.

We walked back in the freezing cold.
cheeese

That's just the snowdrift they've pushed off the street behind us.
When we got back we played multiple games of asshole in a circle of glowsticks.

Lots of guys ended up being the a-hole. But not me and Chance. We're pros!

Then we busted out dringgaaaa!
In case you don't know, Dringa is Jenga with things written on each block that you must do if you pull out the block. i.e. drink 2 and give out 4, do the macarena and drink 3, bark like a dog and give out 6, put this block right back while drinking... it's always very entertaining!
Thanks to my sis for this awesome Christmas present last year!

oops!

After Dringa we watched Out Cold and fell asleep. It was a great New Years Eve!
This is the view from our balcony the next morning.
Happy 2011!

I went up to the mountain to get my ski pass to give to Dave to use for the day.
He covered up the picture, and just pretended he was me :)

New Years Day consisted of laying around watching football and episodes of The League.
Nick taught Patti how to play pool and Gracie was so confused as to why she couldn't play with the balls.

I made sausage balls to watch the OU game, poor Gracie was tortured by them being there.
OU Won!!! And we all retreated to our rooms to pack and rest up for the drive the next day.

byebye CB, until next year...
