Recent Ramblings: CMA Awards Edition

When Lionel Richie came out to sing with Little Big Town, I wasn't just distracted by the hair on that blonde chick..

Me: That guy looks like Bill Rancic. Where's Guiliana, Bill?
Dave: Yeah he's really gettin into it
Me: No that's not really Bill Rancic
Dave: Who the hell is Bill Rancic?
Me: Really? You don't know who he is?
Dave: No idea
Me: He won the first season of the Apprentice?
Dave: Nope
Me: He's married to Guiliana from E News?
Dave: I got nothin
Me: So you really thought that was him up there singing?
Dave: How would I know?
Me: Oh gosh... I knew I should have just tweeted that instead of said it out loud.
Dave: Maybe...

followed by...

Dave: Can we fast forward?

Not too long after that conversation..

Me: Oh no Carrie, that outfit is just as bad as the last one was. She should have had Rachel Zoe style her for this just like Anne Hathaway did for the Oscars.
Dave: That'd be another good one for the twitter.
Me: clearly.
And I follow up with #daveneedstwitter

The outfits I was referencing:

Recent Ramblings: My Husband is a Gamer Edition

As I'm leaving for work this morning...

Me: I have a Junior League meeting tonight.
Dave: Oh nice, can you find someone to get drinks with after wards or something?
Me: There's a happy hour before it so I'll go to that at like 6.
Dave: So how long will you be gone? Like 4 hours?
Me: What the heck?
Dave: Modern Warfare 3 comes out today and I just tracked my package - it's arriving at 3 but I don't get out of class til 5...
Me: Wow. I'll find something to do, I'm not sure I want to witness what will be going on here
Dave: Ok thanks!

Cue: Eyeroll
I also have to mention that he made me watch some commercial for the game with Jonah Hill in it and kept looking over at me while it was playing to see if I was excited. Umm learn your audience bud.

Recent Ramblings: Kardashian Divorce Edition

Me: Did you hear?
Dave: Hear what?
Me: Hear about Kim Kardashian getting divorced duh!?
Dave: Oh yeah it's the top story on every website right now.
Me: Yeah, I knew they wouldn't last..
Dave: How'd you know?
Me: Because, at their wedding rehearsal she totally asked her friend: Is it normal to hate someone this much right before you get married?
Dave: (total sarcasm voice) OMG were you there?!
Me: Ugh nevermind

I should have known he wouldn't be the person to discuss the details of the falling out of Kim's marriage.

What do you all think? Is Reggie Bush single? He's in Miami now... maybe Kourtney and Kim should take Miami...

Recent Ramblings: Dave and Tine play Cranium

The card said: "What 1950's musical had the lyrics, "A-wop-bop-a-loo-bop-a-lop-bop-bop!"?
Tine: It's Grease! They sing that at the end of Grease at the carnival!
Dave: No it's Little Richard.
Tine: No, Dave it's Grease! I've seen the movie like 1000 times!
Dave: No, it's Little Richard, I just don't know what musical it's from...
Tine: It's Grease! I don't know why you keep arguing!
Dave: The song was in the 50's! Do you think John Travolta was 20 years old in 1950? How old do you think he is!?
Tine: Oh, you're right. I give up, you guess. (Crying from laughing so hard at myself)

In other news: Blake Shelton's new cd came out and it's SO good! I've gotten Dave into country, he said he's listened to this song at least 10 times today already! Love it!

A Couple of Weekend Recaps!

2 weekend's ago we went to a couple of cookouts! We've become great friends with Bridget and Tim, Dave and Tim are in Dental School together and it's always a good time when we get together! (with Krystal too!)
Check out the awesome garden they've got back there - I asked what they were growing and Bridget must have listed 10 different vegetables!
They just got a puppy, so we had to bring over the dogs to meet!
They cooked up some delicious Ka-bobs and I contributed a salad and dessert!
I got the idea for dessert from Pinterist (of course) but I wasn't interested in making my own shortbread cookies or cream cheese icing... so I went the easy route and bought shortbread cookies and used CoolWhip they were a huge hit!
Then we hit up the pool Saturday and enjoyed some good people watching (the apartment pool we crash is full of people who seem to think it's a Cancun pool) Quite entertaining. We cleaned ourselves up and headed to another Dental school friend's cookout!
We all enjoyed some yummy pulled pork sandwiches and an array of sides, then finished the night off with a lot of beer pong!

This past weekend we went to Tulsa Friday night...
Me: Aw you look like such a Dad right now!
Dave: I know I just need a fanny pack and a belt clip for my phone and I'm set.

We went to Tulsa this weekend and took Cooper to visit some of his old friends!
He showed off for Ellie... and played like he was Mona's size at Ryan and Lindy's.
iPhone cameras make dogs look possessed...
We were so glad Lindy and Ryan took a break from watching Law Review videos to catch up with us!
Then my sister and her friends convinced us to go out with them, we ended up having a blast!
Although I wish we went to bed prior to 4:30 am....
I'm pretty sure Dave thought I was crazy when I made him load 4 leftover tree trunk's into the car before we left Tulsa... I have vision... you'll have to wait and see :)

We came back to OKC Saturday and went out to the best dinner at Deep Fork Grill for Dave's birthday!
Sunday we finished up the Wine bottle torches project!
Everyone say, "Good job Dave!" It was blazing hot out when he hung them up... I couldn't take the heat. Literally.

We've got a lot planned for this upcoming weekend! I can't wait to have everyone over to our house for some sliders, beers and backyard games!

Recent Ramblings: Dave's Brain on Finals Edition

Dave had his last final yesterday so in his defense I believe his brain is fried.
This is the conversation we had last night:

Me: Ugh my sister got Bethenny's yoga dvd and I want it! Can you upload it to iTunes and then burn me a dvd?
Dave: Huh? Yogadvds? I don't know how to do that?
Me: You don't know how to do yoga or burn a dvd?
Dave: Both, ugh this is too much I'm in the middle of doing something (standing up to get a beer)

I'll be happy when his brain bounces back and we can have a normal conversation...

Recent Ramblings

Me: What should we get Ryan and Lindy as a housewarming gift?
Dave: Uhhh?
Me: Do you really have no ideas or do you just not care?
Dave: No, I'm pumped for this, let's get them a gun!
Me: Umm I was thinking like a bottle of wine?
Dave: No, let's get them energy efficient light bulbs, maybe a new sweater for Ryan? A framed poster of Ron Swanson's Pyramid of Greatness? Sunglasses?
Me: Wow
Dave: Yeah, let's just go with the wine.

Moving on...

Me: Ok what should we get Seth and Heather for their new baby?
Dave: Uhhh?
Me: Not this again... I'll just look for their registry.
Dave: No, wait, let's get them one of those baby backpacks!
Me: Haha what??
Dave: You know, the thing you wear on your chest that holds your baby like a backpack?
Me: You mean the Baby Bjorn.
Dave: Sure.
Me: Hmm I dunno their address, I'll just find something on the registry...
Dave: Who cares more now?

Touche.

Cozy Night In & Recent Ramblings

The weather has been too cold to do anything lately. We watched the National Championship game on Monday night and invited a couple over to join us, the girl said it was too cold to go out. I don't blame her, I didn't want to leave the house either.

Tuesday night we were determined to have fun even if we weren't snowed in, we were frozen in it felt like.
So we busted out my new backgammon board (Thanks to Dave for getting me this awesome gift for Christmas!), poured some wine, lit some candles and cozied up to the table to play!

After watching 3 YouTube videos on how to play backgammon we were ready!
I think this was around the time I said, "The hunt is over, the race is on." In my creepiest voice.

I beat him 2 out of 3 games. :)
I did have a lot more prior experience though... my Dad and I used to play all the time when I was younger.
We stayed warm and had fun without the TV. I'd say it was a successful night. :)

I also have to share a recent conversation:

Dave: Ugh I have to go to school until 4 tomorrow!!!!

Me: Oh how rough, I got home at 630, I don't want to hear it. Here I made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, they will make it all better.
Me: You really ate 7 of those cookies, didn't you?

Dave: Yep, but it's ok I'm going to bench it out later.
Me: OoooooK
Dave: How many did you have?
Me: 2. I know my limits.
Dave: Psh whatever. (Lactaid commercial plays on TV)
Dave: Lactaid, it doesn't make me diarrhea on myself!
Me: ::smirks::

Dave: Sorry I'm on a sugar high. Hey Look! I'm holding Cooper in his pooping position
Me: That's nice babe. I'm going to bed.
Dave: Ahh ok I'll stop. Don't leave.

I think Break Dave is sticking around a little longer... and I'm totally ok with that. He's way more entertaining.

Fine Dining at Taco Bueno

Last night I decided to take the night off from cooking and was craving my old favorite, Taco Bueno.

Before you judge, here are a couple of the delicious dinners I have provided for the household lately.
Delicious grilled turkey and cheese on tuscan bread (Tulsa girls - get some of this bread from Petty's it is THE best!) with tomato soup. Sidenote - my Juliska ramekins are the perfect size to hold half a can of tomato soup, Dave had the other half and it was just the right amount! (Lindy this is for you)

Parmesan chicken, potato latkes and grilled veggies. Yum!

So after finally conquering the dirty dishes I decided to take the night off. A friend of mine had told me there was a brand new "state of the art" Taco Bueno nearby and I just had to check it out.  A little background for you, I have always been a loyal Bueno fan. We grew up having Bueno nights at our house and we all looked forward to it. I always got the same thing and have ventured outside of the box a couple of times but have stuck to my main faves throughout the year. That would be cheese nachos, a party burrito and a crispy beef taco for all you weirdos out there who care.

I convinced Dave to go with me, as he has yet to find "his order" at Bueno and I didn't want to have to guess.
We pulled up and I first noticed the sign was totally new and the interior looked more like a taco cabana than a Bueno.

While waiting in the drive through lane, I had to share my excitement with my brother, who is also a huge fan of Bueno. (I remember one Thanksgiving when he was younger, he suggested we have Bueno and Wendy's chicken nuggets for Thanksgiving instead of the usual turkey and vegetables.)
Here's how our convo went:

Now if they just served margaritas I'd consider dining at this new Bueno for date night.

Recent Ramblings: I can read minds

Me: Soo what happened to the ottoman?
Dave: (has a guilty look) I dunno?
Me: I think you do know...
Dave: (still looking guilty) uhh
Me: Haha yeah you do.
Dave: Ok yeah maybe I do

Me: (laughing) I bet I can guess what happened
Dave: (thinking he's being sly) Oh yeah?

Me: Yeah, give me 3 guesses
Dave: ok
Me: Wait I only need one.
Dave: haha ok
Me: You glued the broken toilet lid back together on top of it and the super glue ran over and stuck to it
Dave: Haha - yep. It looked a lot worse, do you know how I made it look better?

Me: (dying laughing) Oh yeah, one guess - sharpie.
Dave: haha yep. you're good.
Me: I know. I can read minds.

Recent Ramblings: Take it with a grain of salt...

While on our way to dinner the other night Dave and I had the following conversation:
Me: I listen to country on the way to work sometimes, this station doesn't play any commercials or have their dj's talking about nothing.
Dave: What? Are you serious about this song?
Me: Yeah, you have to take it with a grain of salt.
Dave: Do you know what that means?
Me: Yeah, do YOU?
Dave: Not really, but I don't think you're using it right.
Me: No, it means to go into it with the mindset like you would when you take a shot of tequila. Like you're ready to have fun!
Dave: ::Laughs:: Your serious aren't you?
Me: Yeah, am I wrong?
Dave: I'm not sure but I'm definitely going with your definition from now on.
Me: Thanks, I think you should! Everyone should!
Dave: So you just have to take this song like you would take a shot of tequila.
Me: Yep! Don't you kinda like the song more now?
Dave: Hmmm I like this conversation more that's for sure.

It was provoked by this country song: (which has actually grown on me)

Daydream Believer

Do you ever find yourself daydreaming or wondering about the most mundane things?

I do this a lot, Dave reassures me that everyone wonders about stupid things.

On our recent trip to Florida we stopped and stayed at a Holiday Inn Express in Mississippi (still fun to spell). This particular hotel was a little dated but still in good shape, and somehow I found myself wondering about the hotel owner. When he bought the hotel did he furnish it with things he knew would last a while or did he buy stuff on the cheap knowing that he'd be replacing them every 10 years or so to keep the place up to date? I really wanted to know, so I had to come clean to Dave about all of my daydreaming/general wonders about the world around me.

Me: "Do you think whoever owns this hotel bought that chair knowing he'd be replacing it every 10 years or so b/c it's ugly and out of date? And what about the curtains? Do they plan on changing these things?"
Dave: "Um, I bet they plan on changing them sometime but I doubt this actual Holiday Inn is in any hurry."Me: "Is it weird that I think about these things?"
Dave: gives me a weird look, "No, everybody daydreams babe. Just don't be afraid to dream bigger than the room your in"
Me: "Ok, I'll try and keep that in mind"

As we continued our 15 hour road trip, I found myself wondering about other little things and I now knew it was ok and I wasn't alone. So I wasn't afraid to share my wonders.

Me: "Why did it take Wendy's 25 years to come up with the spicy chicken nugget? They've had the nugget forever and the spicy chicken sandwich for as long as I can remember. I really hope somebody lost their job for not coming up with it sooner."
Dave: "Yeah can you imagine being in the meeting where the guy comes up with it? Uh I was thinking we've got the spicy stuff already so why don't we just merge it with the nuggets?"
Me: "Yeah what an asshole."

Later on, after stopping for snacks...

Me: "And why did it take so long to come up with all the new m&m flavors? Why did we grow up with just regular and peanut? It really took someone this long to figure out how to put peanut butter or pretzels in there?"
Dave: "Yeah that's pretty amateur, maybe you should get a job coming up with these ideas for food companies"
Me: "I know, I totally would have come up with peanut butter m&m's way before reeses pieces were around"
Dave: "You should put that on your resume"
Me: "I will."
Hours later, after getting stuck in traffic because of a wreck.....

Me: "Do you think that when someone calls 911 to report a wreck on the highway the person that answers asks which side of the highway it's on? Like is it closer to the fast lane or the slow lane?"
Dave: "No, why would you think that? I'm sure they're just like shit there's a wreck I'll ring the bell"
Me: "Well, how did that ambulance know to take the shoulder on the fast lane? He obviously knew it would be on that side and didn't waste his time going down the other shoulder."
Dave: "Maybe you're right."

I sensed he was getting annoyed with my ramblings so I kept them to myself for the next couple of days.
Then I was hit with one I had to know the answer to...

(While laying on the beach - clearly not the best time to bug someone.)
Me: "What do you think the chair guy does in the winter? Does he make enough money in the summer to survive through the winter?"
Dave: "I don't know babe, I bet he has a winter job. Maybe he's Santa at the mall."
Me: "Is that what you really think or are you being an ass?"
Dave: "Why don't you ponder that for a while."

To respond I gave him this look:

What do you all wonder about?
Do you share your wonders with your significant other or just keep them to yourself?
