Tennis Love

It's no secret I'm a tennis fan. (Dave and I dream of going to every grand slam one day) With the US Open going on I thought I'd share some tennis love!

Vogue commisioned 11 designers to customize a tennis ball in honor of the US Open this year. Love all of them but here are my faves! Now if they'd just sell these... I'd love to have one of these on my desk!

You can see them all here. I hope this puts you all in the tennis spirit! :)

And while we're talking tennis, can someone come show me how to make my hair look like Brooklyn Decker's while she watched her hubby play his last professional match? so sad. Roddick was a lot of fun to watch! Here's hoping another American will step up and fill his spot.

Also, please note the OU shirt behind her.. Andy's brother is the head tennis coach at OU! I'm praying I'll run into Andy next time he's here visiting!

Roddick v. Fish in OKC

Last night we saw Andy Roddick play Mardy Fish in an exhibition match in OKC.

The best part of the night was when Roddick did impressions of other tennis player's serves. He starts with Sampras, then Sharapova, then Nadal and he finishes with Serena. It was hilarious!

Please ignore my annoying laugh and shaking hand... kthanks.

If you ever have a chance to see an exhibition match, Go! It was very entertaining! Now we have a goal to attend all 4 Grand Slam tournament before we die. London, Paris, Melbourne and New York. Not bad for travel destinations!

What's Up Wicha?

I know a lot of you have been wondering what's up with me lately? The ole blog has suffered b/c I just haven't had much goin on. We're trying to save our skrilla for our big trip in a couple of weeks so we've been entertaining ourselves at home most evenings.

Here are some of the highlights as of late:

Last Friday we had drinks with some friends in Norman and enjoyed the Springlike weather on the patio until the wee hours of the morning.

The Real Housewives of Miami started this week and so far I'm a fan. Adriana totally reminds me of Sofia Vergara on Modern Family.  Did you all watch?

I got a new purse for our trip finally! Isn't is cute!?

I'm SO excited for the premiere of Bethenny Ever After tonight on Bravo! I have a SERIOUS girl crush on her, I think we'd be bffs if we ever met. Her conversations with Jason remind me A LOT of Dave and I's. Check out a sneak peak of tonight's episode and tell me how much you love her too!

Oh I better go pick up some more Skinny Girl Margarita to celebrate this tonight! :)

Also, have any of you read Reality Steve today!? Holy Spoilers Alert! He's been wrong this whole time apparently... you MUST go check it out here if you haven't already! Gotta say, I'm pretty pleased with the news. I've been a big Emily fan the whole time, I just wish they would have aired more of their time together that wasn't so awkward!

We have been playing a lot of tennis lately! The weather has been perfect!

Hopefully this beautiful weather will get me out of the February Funk and back on the blogosphere!

Looks like I have a lot in common with The Weatherman

I'm a little behind and just watched the 2nd episode of Bachelor Pad. OMG This show is good! Talk about a trainwreck! It reminds me of a prettier cast of Real World Road Rules Challenge.

I thought it was hilarious that The Weatherman and I both share a love of tennis and our favorite place we've traveled to is Positano, Italy. I so could have gotten the rose that night! (I know I'm married, I'm just sayin)

And here's me and Dave in Positano - circa 2008.

ahhh memories... And I'm now taking donations for the "Send us back to Positano Fund"

How cool is my Mom?

Dave and I have been playing tennis at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center instead of the ghetto neighborhood courts I mentioned here. Last night when we played I noticed a new plaque on the wall listing all the former Oklahoma State High School Tennis Champions. Whose name did I immediately look for? My Mom's duh!
There it was! She's so cool! Debbie Cunningham, for those who are interested.

I called to tell her about it and that's when she told me an article was just published about her for the State High School Tournament program this year!
My Mom was an amazing tennis player. Her Dad, my grandfather, was the tennis pro in Tulsa at several of the tennis clubs. Chances are if you played tennis from the 70's to 90's in Tulsa you had a lesson from him. It was their love of the sport that encouraged me to start playing competitively. At the ripe age of 10 I entered my first tournament. I still remember the night before the tournament, my Mom spent hours making sure I had everything I needed. Water jug? check. Extra racquet? check. (I actually think I used her racquet as my back up for this first tournament.) Sweat towel? check. super cool visor? check. Abundance of hair clips? check.
Then she remembered that I hadn't ever played an actual match, I'd just been going to lessons. She spent the next hour explaining to me how to keep score and which side of the court to stand on.
I remember thinking, "This is easy, I got this"
Jump ahead to the next day - I've won the first two points of the match and call out the score, "15 All".
She had taught me how to keep score, but not how to pay attention... oops! She corrected me and from then on I think I got it right... Either that or she was too embarrased to correct me again.

(Click to make it bigger and zoom to read)

Thanks for teaching me my favorite pasttime, Mom.
If only I could have been as good as you were, my name could have been up there with you!
(Don't ask me about highschool state, it's a sensitive subject, still. )

Recent Ramblings: Tennis Convo

Back Story: I'm completely obsessed with The Blind Side, Dave got it for my for my birthday and I've watched it at least once every 3 days. (He can attest to this, he thinks I'm crazy)

We went to play tennis the other night at some tennis courts we drove by to go to one of the grocery stores that failed.

Me: These courts are pretty ghetto.
Dave: But they're close by and they have fences in between the courts so the amateurs won't bug us as much.
Me: True dat. We'll give them a shot. (I walk to the far side of the court and notice the grafitti adorning it)
Dave: These balls are pretty dead. (realizing they've been in his trunk since last summer)
Me: (Finally figuring out what the grafitti says) Penis. It says penis!
Dave: What? No, it doesn't. (walks over)
Dave: (looking strangely at the grafitti) I think it says Pookie.
Me: uhh no I'm pretty sure it says penis.
Dave: I don't think so, but can we keep playing?
Me: Uh I guess but the balls are really dead.
Random guy on the court next to us: Do you guys need some more balls?
Simultaneously:
Me: Yes!
Dave: Nah, we're ok.
Me: (shoots Dave a look like "uhh hello? why not?")
Dave: Ok Sure, if you don't mind.
Random guy: I've got plenty, I coach Harding High School and we get balls donated to us.
Me: Oh that's great! Thanks so much!
Random guy: We're out here everyday, but we're usually done by 6 so if you come after that the courts are empty.
Dave: ok. (thinking: go away buddy, and shooting me a look like "this is why I said no in the first place")
Random guy leaves. Dave hits one of the "donated" balls over to me. It's more dead than the balls we had.
Me: (after I've hit the past 10 shots in the net) This sucks, can we go yet?
Dave: We've only been out here like 30 minutes.
Me: I know but it feels like we're in hurt village.
Dave: What are you talking about? Just let me serve a few.
Me: Ok, but do you think there are crack dealers out here?
Dave: I bet at some point there was a crack dealer here.
Me: Today or just in general?
Dave: Today. This isn't the best part of town.
Me: uhh, ok let's go, I'm over this, unless Big Mike is here to protect us.
Dave: Jeez that wasn't even a workout.
Me: I know, I'd play more if the courts were nicer, can we join a club?
Dave: Who do you think we are?
Me: I don't know but I know I'm not coming back to hurt village to play on the penis courts.
Dave: You're ridiculous.
